Sep 23, 2019 Save up to 40% on your next flight! Hopper predicts the future of airfare. Watch your next flight in the app and get a notification as soon as the price drops to its lowest point. Never miss a deal! Users save on average $50 per flight by following the bunny’s advice. Know if you should book now or wait for a better price using the price prediction feature. Downloaded the app, checked the prices for a bunch of flights and then compared them to the results in google flights, hopper always had more expensive tickets, uninstalled the app. For instance STOBKK. - ProsTracks and predicts flight prices. Wonderful interface. Responsive. Solid notifications.
- ConsNo Web app. Only searches flights. Filters aren't the most advanced.
- Bottom LineIf you want to know exactly when to buy that flight to get the best price, Hopper has one of the best interfaces and alert systems among flight-tracking tools. If only there were a Web app.
The very best travel apps don't just help you get around once you land in a foreign place. They also help you plan, organize, and book travel. Mobile app Hopper (available for Android and iPhone) has been gaining attention recently for its ability to track and alert travelers about the lowest price for flights and the best time to buy. And the attention is deserved. The app is well designed, responsive, simple, and extremely adept at monitoring airfare prices and predicting when they'll change and by how much. For travel price tracking on a mobile device, it's better than even the very capable Kayak.

Design
A big reason I like Hopper as much as I do is because its design is clean, straightforward, and very user-friendly. Hopper pulls up a color-coded calendar when searching for flights. Red days are the most expensive, green are the least pricey, and you understand that without having to look at a more detailed key. There is a key, however, and it tells you each color's price cap for a particular search.

Say you want to fly from Miami to Bogota. To start, you tap on a magnifying glass icon to search. Next, you type the first few letters of the city or airport code until options appear that let you select your departure and arrival points. For cities with multiple airports, such as New York, options include all nearby airports, such as JFK, LGA, and EWR.
Next, you choose to either look for a one-way or roundtrip flight. The following screen that appears shows monthly calendars for the next six months with color-coded days. For travelers with flexible travel dates, this interface does a fantastic job helping you see price differences. I can tell at a glance that flying to Bogota is much more expensive in October, but it's cheap during most of July. If your potential travel dates are further out, you can click to reveal more months.
Tap the dates you want to travel, and Hopper starts looking for the best flights. A prediction screen then advises you whether to buy now or wait. In my case, I was told that the current price was $455, but I could save $187 if I wait for the right time to buy.
I love the specificity, but so far it's pretty similar to what you'll find in some other travel tracking and prediction tools.
Here's where Hopper gets even more specific. It tells you when prices are low, when they're expected to increase again, and by how much. For the Miami-Bogota trip, Hopper anticipates varying prices over the next four months, but it could drop to $268. Then, sometime around September 25, Hopper anticipates the price rising by $36.
Those details are excellent for times when you aren't sure if your travel plans might change. Can I afford to spend more if I'm not ready to buy and the price goes up? In this case, yes. If I rush to buy a ticket that I ultimately can't use, the change fee alone will be at least twice as much. I'd rather wait and pay $36 more than $100 in change fees. (That's an example and isn't based on any particular airline's fee, although for what it's worth, the last time I paid such a fee, it was about that much.)
Here's another example of great details for a search. I search for a flight from New York to Trinidad. Hopper tells me that a good price on a nonstop round-trip ticket is $450, and adding a layover only drops the price by about $25. I'll take that direct flight, please!
Alerts
A button on the bottom of the page lets you Watch This Trip, meaning Hopper keeps an eye on the price. When it finds a good price, it tells you via push notification. You can watch up to 99 flights at a time.

Any time Hopper is tracking prices, it updates you periodically with the current price and advice on whether you should buy or wait.
In the app's settings, you can turn off the alerts and choose whether to silence them overnight, between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. You can also change the currency in the settings. The settings are good, but I'd like to see them built out in future updates. I'd love to be able to tell Hopper my home airport and get alerts about amazing flight deals leaving from it. Bonus points if I can opt into notifications about, say, amazing deals from my home airport for the month of January.
Buying
You can choose the flights you want from a clean and organized list of summaries of each flight. You can easily see the carrier, departure and arrival times, as well as flight duration. A sorting tool at the top of the page helped me narrow in on the shortest flights to find the ones that were nonstop. You can also sort by departure time, arrival time, and number of stops.

Hopper takes you all the way through the point of purchase if you're ready to jump on a good price for a flight. Hopper makes the booking for you directly with the airline. As you reach the final payment page, but before you enter your credit card, Hopper shows you a breakdown of the fare, which includes a commission. On a roughly $400 flight, the fee was $6, and it was completely transparent: clear, labeled, easy to see. I really appreciate how transparent fees are in Hopper.
A company representative explained that the commission is based on the route. For most flights, the fee is about $5. International flights that cost more than $900 are charged an $8 commission.
I also asked the spokesperson for more details about who owns the booking when you pay through Hopper. With most third-party booking sites, such as Orbitz and Expedia, you have to deal with that company rather than the airline or hotel directly if you need to change your booking. With Hopper, it's the same. They have an email address and phone number for customer support. Hopper doesn't charge any change fees, but the airline probably will, and those will be passed on to you.
What's Missing
I already hinted at the fact that there are features I'd love to see in Hopper that don't currently exist, like a Deals page. The app isn't crammed with features, because it's just a mobile app, and there's something to be said for simplicity on a mobile device. Some features might be better left to a Web app, but Hopper doesn't have one.

There are Web apps for Google Flights and Kayak, and they do have more options for rolling the dice and finding a cheap flight to any destination.
When I need the most filtering tools during a search, Kayak (Web version) is always my first stop. I like that I can look for flights to and from a major city, such as San Francisco, and exclude any nearby airports that I don't want while including the rest (for example, SFO and OAK, but not SJC). On mobile, however, Hopper beats Kayak for price tracking and alerts. The interface is cleaner and easier to use.
Hop On
Hopper sticks to one aspect of travel—flight search and price prediction—and it does a fantastic job at it. Considering Hopper is a mobile app, it's stellar. It doesn't go overboard with features. It offers extremely clear information, and the interface does its job admirably without adding any unnecessary bling. Still, I'm excited to watch this little app grow, and I hope its next stop is to add a full Web app.

I was so happy to know and app like this existed, until I finally purchased a ticket through them. I just lost $1500 due to their lack of transparency with their transactions.
The ticket I bought through them, never said that I could not exchange it nor that it had ANY restrictions howsoever. The airline that I flew with told me that my ticket had all kinds of restrictions such I can't change my return date because we bought the cheapest option through hopper and that if we wouldn't have use hopper, we could have exchange the dates directly with them.
At no point while I was purchasing this ticket I was shown this during the check out process.
We contacted hopper about this issue and they were in no way helpful. We are yet still to see the fine print or where those restrictions where listed when we purchase the tickets with them.
We are taking them to court as this is completely unacceptable and unreasonable not to respond with a positive outcome but to 'apologize'.
I have no return ticket due to their lack of transparency. This is a company with no moral integrity.

Hey there,
I am sorry to hear that your experience with Hopper was less than satisfactory. All of the details of your flight are displayed on a page before you swipe to pay on the app. Those details are also displayed after purchasing on the confirmation email that is sent out. If a user doesn’t want to see basic economy flights, there is a filter built into the app that will remove them from future searches. We are available 24/7 through our in-app chat feature and would be happy to assist your further, just click on the “Contact Us” button on your trip page to launch an in-app chat feature and be connected directly to a Hopper agent.

DONT BOOK THROUGH HOPPER
How is it ok to have to wait hours for anyone to answer an email or the support chat and have no customer support number?
I used Hopper in the past and always raved about it everyone but there have been only horrible surprises since booking the latest trip.
- You only get one bag on your outbound, you don't get to bring that back without paying (even though you bought a round trip ticket)! You were not made aware before booking.
- This is in an international flight (not a domestic low budget airline) but you can't pick a seat without paying $20 each per flight (the cheapest). No guarantees you will sit with the person you booked with. You were not made aware before booking.
- You paid for a non stop flight but airline schedules change and we can't do anything about it so now that non stop 5h flight will include a layover and airplane change and take a total of 14h+ , NO BIG DEAL RIGHT. Just make sure you respond to this email within 72h or you're automatically agreeing to this and will have to pay for any flight changes.

They changed my name on my ticket (which you have to pay a fee to change). Then my flight also was changed to one that was impossible for me to make within days of purchasing my ticket. Once that happened, they said I was eligible for a full refund. Magically, Hopper got to keep their $16.50 travel insurance fee. They said it wasn't even debited by them, but Hopper is the name on the debit from my bank account. Pretty interesting how this all worked out. I don't have a plane ticket and Hopper has $16.50 of my money.

I am so disgusted by the service I received from this $#*!ty ass company. over 3 days of communication and got no where with them, at the end they booked my wife and new born baby on a separate flight from me, what a joke. I am suggesting to any one looking to travel to never use this site or company for travelling. If there is a chance to give them less than 1 star I would. After reading this review if you decided to use them you will be an idiot. I want to say so much about this, but don't want to waste my time on this. Good luck staying in service if you continue to serve your customers that way.

Hopper showed a round trip flight from Tampa to Austin in January 2020 at $217. I made note of the flight numbers, but when I called AA to confirm details they said no such flight numbers and flight times existed. Additionally, no flight was available for $217. The closest flight was priced at $440.
I've used Hopper to give me an idea when prices will likely increase and decrease. Now, I'm questioning whether even that information is legitimate.

App told me wait when 1 way ticket to portland was $162 saying how much I was going to save by waiting.. told me to buy finally a week before take off at $360.. not only.costed me 200 dollars but now by reading these reviews I'm worried the site is now also a scam

Bought the insurance and needed to change my flight and after an absolutely stupidly protracted exchange with their customer service was basically told 'sorry but nothing we can do!' Forcing me to eat the fare I paid for AND THE INSURANCE I also paid for. Thanks for telling me you are sorry and to go f**k myself out of hundreds of dollars. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THIS APP.

searching for flights...it said one price, once click on that to reserve they send a little bunny saying heads up the price per ticket just increased by 20$! Then they have fees....and they give themselves a 5$ tip of your money!!

We missed our flight yesterday night flying out of a very small and not busy airport due to 8 minute difference. No one would help us because we booked though a third party. We were stranded and had international flights we were missing. Hopper took ours to get back to us. Won't give us a new itinerary after spending $2,500 on two round trip tickets. Quoted us a $1,400 fee to change flights. Wouldn't give us a refund. Spent hours waiting to hear back from someone. Don't waste your time or money. Book through the airlines.

I was so excited to find a decent flight and price to LAX, but after I'd got as far as hit submit (I had my cc info in) all of a sudden the price goes up $54 minutes Er ticket! Wtf? I had to start completely over in Expedia and found the tickets for a lot less. I'm taking the app off of my phone and not looking back.

I have to change my return flight and when I was checking in the agent told me that the name on the booking was misspelled. I emailed Hopper since everyone know we CANNOT call them because there's no number to call. The email support placed the blame on me! WTF, I can spell my name-I was able to fly to US without any issue. But after the flight was changed, my name actually changed. Now EVERYONE here who used this app knows once the booking is completed, we cannot alter anything, we have to email them to do that for us. So YES, they spelled my name wrong. I'm still pending if China will let me in to my next flight bec of their screw up.
Hey there Arturo,
I am sorry to hear that your experience with Hopper was less than satisfactory. The Hopper app will only book tickets under names that were entered by the user and we cannot make any alterations to those names. To alter a name on a ticket, we have to contact the airline and provide official ID. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any more questions. Our traveler experience team is available 24/7 to assist you directly from your app - just click on the 'Contact Us' button on your trip page to launch an in-app chat and be connected directly to a Hopper agent.

They offer a price that when compared to hotel official site was only $3.00 below their price. They charge you $5.00 for their service and in advance for the hotel total fee. And in small letter says not reimbursable. I had to change and lost money. They are thieves.
DONT TRUST THEM GO STRAIGHT TO THE OFFICIAL HOTEL SITES !!
THE BEST PART IS THAT IN THE HOTEL THEY DID NOT ASK FOR MONEY IN ADVANCE AND DID ACCEPT CHANGES !!

We ponied up and purchased $1500 worth of tickets on our CC basically maxing it out for a last minute vacation. The hopper app had just shown tickets 26 minutes ago in the app. We purchased the tickets and then after hitting submit it said that American Airlines had declined our offer. Our offer? What the hell does that mean? Our offer? Anyway, it wasn't an offer.... it may have been an offer presented to us by the Hopper App... I suppose. But, I wasn't under the impression I was making an offer on anything. It said, buy now, so we bought now. Anyway, here comes all the headaches. The app promptly declines the purchase, says it's AA fault, and promises that AA hasn't charged our card. Well, they did! Right away in fact, as I got a text and email alert from my credit card company. So, I first approach Hopper to ask them why would AA decline a deal? Hopper who I just paid the recommended tip of $5 for the best customer service responds with 'Flight prices change quickly' and said that they couldn't help. There is no phone number or online chat, to talk quickly with Hopper... you just have to randomly wait for them to respond to you. So I exchanged quite a few emails with hopper over the next day lamenting at the fact that AA has charged the card, and that the money is no being held. The money I wanted to use for air fare to our last minute destination of which I've already purchased a hotel. No such luck, hopper plainly didn't care. So, I try my luck with calling AA and to my shock and horror they relay over to me the real story. Yes, they had went ahead and charged my card because they thought I wanted the deal. Then, HOPPER the Travel Agency quickly went ahead and REVERSED the transaction and voided the ticket. I could not believe it. The AA agent on the phone told me if they had not done that I would have been on my way with a ticket. So, Hopper offer me a deal through there app, i opened up my wallet, paid nearly $1500, and behind the scenes they decided it wasn't good enough. The VERY last email to them was with this info and I never heard back from them. Meanwhile I have gone on my vacation and am now back and it's the 10th day and my money has yet to be reversed back on to my credit card. So, I just want to warn others out there... THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOU.... and if you were like me wanting to use credit card instead of cold hard cash.... that's what they did to me. The customer service they provided me was non existent and terrible. Nothing was resolved and I believe this company is completely unethical. I would avoid them the risk of your vacation being ruined is too much of a risk. Read the APP reviews of the guy stuck in BALI..... pathetic company.

On 3/8/2019 I was told that Hopper has great deals. Never heard of them but decided to check them out. So I went online, searched for a bit then found airline tickets on American from Maui to LA-LA to Boston for $751 total round trip...taxes&fees included. This was $100 cheaper than any other fares I've ever purchased. I proceeded to book 2round trip tics and now as I'm cashing out it's now saying that they are more $ than what advertised?! So I canceled and did another search with them. The same deal came up again for $751 round trip. Again went to book it and the same thing happened. So I called Hopper and explained to the agent. She was now booking that deal for me and at the end she tried to overcharge me as well! We were on the phone with her for almost 2 hours! She finally agreed to honor the price that shows on their site. So it took her FOREVER to book it! My friend paid with her card and agent asked her numerous times to repeat her card #. Anyway we thought perhaps she was new at her job so we were super patient with her! 2 hours later finally booked! I took pic of my itinerary and we were done! Last night is our departure date 3+moths later after booked. I'm at the airport with my eight-year-old daughter trying to get onto our 10:41 PM flight with American Airlines. The American Airlines ticket agent said she had no record of any Itinerary for us???!!! I was horrified! My email wouldn't open up at the airport to check stuff so I called my friend who booked them with her card and she was frantically trying to figure out which card she used and go over all her statements from all her cc's to see if she was charged. She recalls being charged but last pm couldn't find the charge in her statements so she figured they reimbursed her. She went to look up Hopper after to call and started reading all the reviews. She read many bad reviews and then came across one that said the same thing happened to another person when they went to go on a trip and couldn't get their tickets because there was no record of it and that person said that Hopper said they had to cancel it the next day and sent the persons in email. So apparently the email went to the person spam and they never saw it! They had no idea their trip was canceled! Nor did I! And I did not get any emails in my inbox or spam from them?! My eight-year-old daughter has been waiting for this trip for months and has been so excited to go visit her auntie! She was hysterically crying at the airport last night and it was so hard for me to walk out last night and devastate her. Her little heart was broken! This was a big deal for us and we had a wedding to go to as well in Boston this weekend! Hopper should be shut down! All 1star reviews with numerous different problems from people. I encourage people not to book through them no matter how good a deal seams! U will pay in the long run one way or another! Try Kayak I've had great experiences with them. And to the employees that work for Hopper you should be ashamed to work for a company like this!!!!

NO!!! I was one of their victims. A friend of mine booked the same flight thru Skyscanner which is 325usd cheaper than Hopper fare. I cancelled the ticket that i booked thru Hopper within 30mins as soon as i have learned the price difference, but still they charged me for usd300 (half of the total fare) and never refunded my money back to my account. They acknowledged it and asked me to wait for 10 business days, even asked for my credit card statement to investigate why the money is not refunded yet by the airlines, they even asked me to wait for my credit card 2 billing cycles to submit to them, then in the end after more than 2months of chasing them, they denied that amount. They are thieves!!! Scammers!!! Do not trust Hopper! Read the other reviews online. I have all the exchange of emails to prove that!

They took my money when I didn't even purchase a ticket won't respond to emails and deactivated their phone number. The worst of the worst. I would give negative stars if I could. If you want to get scammed then use this app

Went to book a flight 2 months before rountrip from Oakland Ca to Las Vegas NV on allegiant airlines. I was quoted a $96.00 fare. They they kept spamming me with push notifications telling me that I needed to grab the fare rate as it was likely to go up in price substantially if I didn't purchase now. So, I did. Three weeks later I go on and the the same hopper app and the quote was $30. Cheaper for the same flight dates and airline plus I had to pay $40.00 per rounded trip just to bring on the a 22 inch carry on bag. Moral of this story is beware of these rip off 3rd party travel sites. They don't have your best interests at heart. They also have no price guarantee.
5/18/19
They do not back you up after you pay.
The airline would have refunded my double booked fare butHopper did not respond to me in time. Then Hopper cited 'airline regulations' to deny me. Rip Off!!!!

Hey there Su,
I am very sorry to hear that your experience with Hopper wasn’t a positive one. Airlines often have very restrictive rules on their tickets and, as an online travel agency, we are bound by the airlines fare rules and cannot make any changes or cancellations without their approval. We are available 24/7 through our in-app chat feature, just click on the “Contact Us” button on your trip page to launch an in-app chat and be connected directly to a Hopper agent. If you have any further questions or concerns, we would be happy to address them there : )

I was flying to india via frankfurt and munich. I booked my flight 5 months before my travel. Just a day before my boarding, hopper sends me an email saying my travel might need a UK visa becuase I had two stops in Europe. I was not aware of this situation, and so they were fair enough to give me a travel credit. Now when I want use my travel credit towards a domestic flight, they are charging me 200$ more than the actual flight rate plus a 300$ penalty charge for changing my booking. Their customer service is TERRIBLE. They never pick up calls and reply to email after 24-48 hours. Very disheartened, NEVER booking my ticket again with them.

If your trip is planned one only go thru hopper. If for some reason you have to cancel your ticket then you are done. They keep you wait for long hours and nothing turns out of it. Initially I thought of canceling the ticket and I was kept telling that I will get the refund and finally other guy told me that I cannot cancel the ticket and I have to reschedule my ticket even though my travel plan was not confirmed. Later I have to call the airlines and make the ticket open and the airlines clearly mentioned that the travel agent made the ticket as private and they cannot reschedule the ticket. But hopper kept on telling that they cannot make any changes to that ticket and now we are ending up paying very high fair for one way. They don't give u the proper response. Very bad. I do not recommend going thru hopper at all.

We are available 24/7 through our in-app chat feature, just click on the “Contact Us” button on your trip page to launch an in-app chat and be connected directly to a Hopper agent. If you have any further questions or concerns we would be happy to address them there : )

I just booked a ticket on this app. I go to the airline website and entered my booking number many, many times but the airline website cannot find my booking number at Hopper. I think I just lost my $245 and learn my lesson to stay away from this scam. BE AWARE
Is Hopper A Legit App

I had been using Hopper for a while, and it was fine. Then I have a trip planned for a couple months from the time I am watching flights, and prices spike, Hopper is telling me it's the best time to buy because they are going to either remain the same or go up further (at this point they were ~$400 per ticket rt). I purchase this through the Hopper app itself. Three days later, I get an alert from the app that there's been a price drop, to $198!!!. Three days later....off by $200. I reach out to Support, they give me the run around and tell me they can't do anything because they are beholden to the airlines, and there is no guarantee of the accuracy of their predictions. I was not accepting this as an answer, as them issuing a refund or reimbursement has nothing to do with the airline, it's about taking care of your customers. I was told a week and half ago my request was being raised to their leadership and they'll get back to me as soon as possible. I still have not heard back.
I continue to get alerts that the price is in the $200s. It's been like this for 2 weeks now. The fact they are not doing anything for a once loyal customer when their app is so incorrect speaks volumes about the company. They suddenly fall into the 'we're just 3rd party' garbage expedia pulls. But this is different, they are claiming to get you the best prices at the best times, and when that algorithm doesn't work, they throw up their hands and say, oh well, it's not really trustworthy and it's just the risk you run using us. Oh, all right then. I guess there's no reason to trust your app or use it ever again. They don't care about their customers, and are little more than a 3rd party booking company with a gimmicky branding that doesn't actually mean anything, and can end up costing you hundreds of dollars, and they won't care.

I booked a flight & cancelled it the same day (just a couple hours after I booked it) & I was told that I was going to get my full refund back & that it was going to take 7-10 business days . On the 10th business day I called because the money wasn't back in my account & when I call the number it's disconnected ! Great ! So I shoot them an email & they told me that they already gave me my refund to a MasterCard with the last 4 digits 6119 LMAO ! I didn't even pay with a MasterCard , I don't even have a MasterCard & those aren't the last 4 numbers of the card that I used to purchase these tickets ! This is bull ! & now they took out the same amount of money AGAIN from my account without my authorization ! They keep taking money out of my account for no reason ! I can't get in contact with these hopper people at all . I'm starting to believe that these people are scamming me ! DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM HERE ! First & last !
